The Story of Wind Dancer Bed and Breakfast
or many years I have talked about having a B&B. I have also talked about having a Tea Room. I have very definite ideas what each should be. I enjoy cooking for others and having people over. I like to meet people and my Mother will tell you that I can talk to a brick wall.
am now a Chef. I graduated from the Art Institution of Houston, International Culinary school. I had a wonderful time and the teachers where amazing. I also gained 10 pounds. We ate everything we cooked and more. What great fun that was. Especially the baking class, we always had hot chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven along with fresh hot, flakey croissants. You talk about a melt in your mouth weakness. That was it, hence the 10 pounds.
esides cooking my other passion are horses. I have always loved horses. My husband bought me a horse named Logan. That horse saved my children. He was better than any therapy I could have had. The girls were teenagers at the time and were driving me insane. I am sure that all the Grandparents just sat backed and laughed and thought finally, pay back! Anyway like children, one horse turned into two horses, and well three…I know it is hard to believe but we now have 5.
y children have since grown into young adults and they have left home to start lives of their own. I still have Logan and the other horses. My mother had her home here in Hearne, Texas with 20 acres. This was our family home too. So my Mother decided to sell and move into town. (We call town College Station, not Hearne. If you go to Hearne, then you go to Hearne.) I thought with the house and all the rooms this would be a perfect place for a B&B.
o my husband and I bought the house and moved to Hearne, Texas: horses, dogs, cats and all. We have been here for 5 years now and began welcoming guests in 2004. We now have all 4 rooms open. So I finally got to stop talking about having a B&B and have one. Now I get to cook and clean and get paid for it. It has been an exciting adventure and I have met some wonderful people.
still would like to have a Tea Room one day. Right now I am happy and content with having the B&B. I am opening the house for catering and who knows, it could lead me closer to the Tea Room.
ne last thing, the name: Wind Dancer. I am a romantic. I think that horses are the most beautiful creatures God could have bestowed upon us. To me they are majestic. Their grace and beauty are what dreams are made of. They truly dance upon the wind. I feel blessed to have but a few in my care. So the name Wind Dancer seemed appropriate.
Let Wind Dancer B&B cater your holiday party. For all bookings at Wind Dancer B&B, we will waive the event and cleaning fees, a $450.00 value, until New Year's 2009.
